VINTAGE OMEGA 1958 18KT GOLD SEAMASTER CALENDAR AUTOMATIC WATCH WITH ORIGINAL BLACK DIAL, BOX & BUCKLE.
Vintage Omega 1958 18kt gold Seamaster calendar automatic watch with original black dial, box & strap.
This superb Omega model 2849 s.c. was manufactured in 1958 during the golden age of watch-making.
Manufactured in solid 18kt yellow gold, the water-proof case measures 34.5mm across the bezel, not including the crown and 42.5mm tip-to-tip. The case is in fine original condition, with two very prominent 18kt gold Swiss hall-marks on the back of the lugs. The back stamped similarly inside, with individual case number 311109, watch-makers instructions and model number. The back closes very firmly, as it should and is in excellent dent and ding free condition, with just some very fine scratching from gentle use over the years.
The original glossy black ‘deluxe’ type dial is truly exquisite. With mixed gold arrow-head and dagger divisions and date window surround. The original luminous-filled hands and dot markers have long ago lost their luminosity unfortunately.
This particular 2849 s.c. uses the new at the time calibre 503 360 degree rotor movement with calendar, the previous models having the old ’bumper’ type movements. This example is in exceptional condition, with no loss to the gold plating as they usually have. Not chronometer rated, but with micrometer-adjust balance and exactly the same movement as used in the constellation of the same period.
Working perfectly and keeping excellent time, as you would expect. This beautiful Omega has retained it’s original presentation box and omega buckle, though the leather strap has long since perished so we have fitted a new, quality ‘alligator grain one. 50’s Omega’s of this quality and in this condition do not come along often, this is a rare opportunity to own one of the finest examples.
