VINTAGE DUTCH MILITARY WW2 UNIVERSAL GENEVE WATCH & OWNERS COMPASS.

Vintage Dutch military ww2 Universal Geneve watch & owners compass.

This fabulous military timepiece was issued to officers by the Dutch army just prior to the outbreak of ww2. At this time the Netherlands were ruled by the monarch queen Wilhelmina and the dials of these watches were printed with her emblem – the crown with ‘w’ underneath.

The chromed case measures 30mm across the bezel, not including the crown and 37mm tip-to-tip. The case is in excellent condition, with no significant loss of chrome and nice sharp edges to the shoulders. The fixed strap bars are firm and the polished bezel shows no dings, scratches or loss of chrome.

The inside of the back stamped ‘Universal Geneve’ and the German spelling of ‘stainless-steel’. Very unusually the back has no watch-makers servicing marks what so ever, a good indication of the watch being little used.

The original winding crown is still present. The stainless-steel back with the serial number 31250 and individual serial number has just some light scratches from mild use.

The movement is the Universal calibre 262, of exceptional quality and working nicely.

The original black dial is in very, very nice condition. With subsidiary seconds and luminous dot / baton divisions. Signed ’Universal – Geneve’ with the queen Wilhelmina emblem beneath.

Fitted with the original period leather strap, still in good usable order. Though we will include a new quality croco-grain strap to the buyer if requested.

We bought the watch with the original owners Dutch army officers mk2 compass and case, which is in superb condition also. This will be included in the sale for the buyer. A rare and collectable military timepiece in remarkable condition.
