VINTAGE 1971 REGENCY STAINLESS-STEEL PROFESSIONAL DIVERS CHRONOGRAPH WATCH FULL SET BOX & PAPERS.

Vintage 1971 Regency stainless-steel professional divers chronograph watch full set box & papers.

This very special gentlemen’s chronograph was manufactured around 1970 and sold through the welsh Hughes & Sons LTD in may 1971. A professional divers chronograph, these were rated to a depth of 20 atmospheres, which is around 200 meters.

The all stainless-steel waterproof case measures 38mm across the bezel, not including the crown and 47mm tip to tip. The watch has never been polished and the strap lugs with chamfered shoulders still have perfect sharp edges. The original large steel winding crown and pushers are still in great condition. the revolving bezel is in very, very good order with very little wear. The figures are still perfectly legible and it still retains the original luminous ‘pip’, though this has long lost it’s luminosity.

The black ’panda’ dial is really quite stunning. With large polished steel hands and baton divisions, luminous filled and with no rust or damage. Signed by the maker ‘Regency’ who appear to have manufactured some very, very nice quality chronographs.

The Landeron calibre 248 movement is of very nice quality and does not disappoint, finished to a good standard and in ‘as-new’ condition. Working perfectly as it should, winds and sets correctly and the chronograph operates flawlessly. Keeping excellent time also we have found.

The watch is in exceptional original condition throughout, with just some tiny scratching from gentle use over the years, though we do not believe that this detracts from the beauty of the watch. Complete with the original box and guarantee papers, dated 26th may 1971. A handsome chronograph on the wrist, this is a great professional divers watch, your first chronograph buy perhaps ?
