VINTAGE 1969 OMEGA SPEEDMASTER MARK 2 CHRONOGRAPH CALIBRE 861 WATCH FULL SET WITH BOXES WALLET & PAPERWORK

This fabulous Omega Speedmaster mark 2 model ‘145.014’ is in very, very nice condition considering the age of the watch. Bought new from beards the jewellers – Cheltenham in December 1969. Housed inside the stainless steel water-proof case we find the Omega calibre 861 manual winding movement, the very same movement used in the Speedmaster moon-watch of the same era.

Manufactured in 1969 by the serial number 31618470. The movement is in ‘as-new’ condition from what we can see, there does not look to be any signs of it being tampered with by amateurs in the past and the back is un-sullied by previous servicing marks as they usually are. It is possible that the watch has never been opened in the past, which is very rare to find.

The case is in very, very nice condition, with no dings or serious scratches of any description and retaining the correct brushed / polished finish with nice sharp edges to the chamfers etc. The top of the case still retains the original brushed ‘sunburst’ finish, with just some light scratching which it has acquired over the years.

Measures 41.5mm across the bezel not including the crown and 46mm tip-to-tip.

Fully marked omega inside the back with individual model number 145.014.

The original dial is absolutely flawless in every respect, it is without doubt the best speedmaster dial that we have ever encountered and the tritium lume still glows brightly. the white hands are the originals and are also in outstanding condition, with the tritium lume glowing as brightly as the dial.

The winding crown and pushers are original to the watch and still in excellent condition also. The back screws down and unscrews perfectly as it should and the hippocampus engraving is still in very nice order, with just a little light scratching from mild use over the years.

The bracelet is the original item and is still in very, very good condition. The clasp snapping closed firmly as it should and will fit up to a 19cm wrist.

The watch comes complete with both original boxes, omega wallet, owners operating manual and the original beards receipt for insurance when it was bought new at a cost of seventy four pounds & five shillings.

Complete speedmaster sets like this are a rarity as you will no doubt be aware and this is a particularly nice example.
