VINTAGE 1969 18KT GOLD OMEGA SEAMASTER GENEVE CALENDAR AUTOMATIC WITH ORIGINAL BOX & STRAP BUCKLE

This wonderful gentlemen’s Omega was close to the top of the companies waterproof range in 1969.

The model 166.070 was the new ’slim’ version of Omega‘s water-proof line of watches, using a two-piece screw-back case. These new cases were exceptionally well made and the movements within are usually found to be in perfect condition.

Using the omega calibre 565 automatic movement with quick-change date, the exact same movement as used in the much more expensive ‘Constellation’ which was sold alongside. The movement that we have here is in excellent condition, which is testament to the wonderful case design that has protected it perfectly over the years.

The substantial solid 18kt gold case measures 35mm across the bezel not including the crown and 41.5mm tip-to-tip. The case and bezel are in beautiful original condition with no noticeable wear, dings or scratches. The back is in similar condition with no dings or gouges and just some very fine scratching from occasional use over the years.

The gold ’sunburst’ dial is original and in good condition, with contrasting gold baton markers inlaid with black. The stick hands are the original polished gold items with luminous filling. Signed simply ’Omega Automatic – Geneve’ with ’Swiss-Made’ below six.

You will notice also the original winding crown with the Omega symbol to the centre. The watch still retains the original Omega gold-plated buckle, though the original leather part was perished and we have fitted a new alligator-grain one.

Complete with the original Omega presentation box, which is also in excellent condition. We don’t see original solid 18kt gold waterproof Omega’s very often and certainly not in wonderful condition such as this one.
