VINTAGE 1968 OMEGA CONSTELLATION WATCH C CASE GOLD CAPPED FULL-SET BOX & PAPERS.

Vintage 1968 Omega Constellation watch C case gold capped full-set box & papers.

This super Omega Constellation model 168.017 was manufactured in 1968 and was one of the first ’c’ case Constellations to be manufactured with the new ‘quick-set‘ date change movement. Measuring 35mm across the bezel, not including the crown and 40’5mm tip-to-tip the gold-capped case is still in superb condition with nice sharp edges to the shoulders, the original brushed satin finish and polished edges.

The calibre 564 automatic chronometer movement is in superb condition and working very well, keeping excellent time also.

The silvered ‘linen-weave’ dial is in absolutely pristine condition, one of the best that we have seen in many years. The gold batons, date window and hands are in perfect original condition also, complementing the dial perfectly.

There is no loss or wear to the gold capping as is usual with these models, they are usually very tired. The original Omega ‘brick-link bracelet is in excellent order, retaining the correct brushed satin finish and is actually very comfortable to wear. The bracelet is full-length and should fit any wrist size.

The watch looks amazing on the wrist, very difficult to distinguish from a solid gold example. Purchased new in 1968 from the prestigious London jeweller ‘J.W. Benson LTD’ the watch still retains the original guarantee papers and correct ‘Constellation’ presentation box.The guarantee papers state a slightly different serial number to the one engraved on the movement, though they state the correct buyers family name and date of sale etc. We have seen this before where the sales person has mistakenly filled in the number from a similar watch within their stock. We bought this from the grand-daughter of the original owner and it had been in the family since new, so we know that the papers are definitely the ones supplied with the watch when it was purchased.

Full set Constellations in this beautiful condition do not become available often.
