VINTAGE 1968 9KT GOLD AVIA CHRONOGRAPH WATCH IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX

Vintage 1968 9kt gold Avia chronograph watch in beautiful condition with the original box.

This fabulous vintage chronograph was manufactured in 1968 by the Swiss manufacturer ’Avia’. Chronographs by this company are scarce and solid gold ones are extremely rare. Beautifully cased in 9kt gold, this is a large watch, measuring just over 36.5mm across the bezel (not including the crown) and 45mm tip to tip.

This is a thick and heavy case, not the paper thin type often seen on the chronograph-suisse type watches of the same era. The snap on back with Swiss 9kt hallmarks for 1968 and individual serial number 15901. There are also two tiny 9kt hallmarks stamped between the lugs.

The beautiful silvered dial has contrasting polished gold baton divisions and 3 colour printed telemeter, tachometer and 1/5th of a second scales. The dial is signed simply ‘Avia – 17 jewels’ with ’incabloc’ (shockproof) above six. The landeron 248 movement is in exceptional condition, clearly having had very little use. The original crown is still present with the ‘Avia’ symbol to the centre.

The watch is in remarkable original condition, in close to ‘new old stock’ condition i would say and complete with it’s original Avia presentation box. We have fitted the watch with a new quality alligator-grain strap.

This rare and very beautiful chronograph looks amazing on the wrist, you will struggle to find another in this wonderful condition.
