VINTAGE 1967 OMEGA CONSTELLATION CALENDAR WATCH 14KT GOLD CAPPED WITH CYCLOPS DATE

This super gentlemen’s Omega was close to the top of the companies constellation range in 1967 and is unusual, having the seldom seen ‘cyclops’ magnifier over the date window. The model 168.010 constellation calendar uses the omega calibre 564 automatic chronometer movement and the example that we have here is in very good original condition. The 14kt gold capped over stainless-steel case measures 35.5mm across the bezel not including the crown and 40mm tip-to-tip. The case is in pristine condition, with no dings or scratches, there is no apparent wear what-so-ever to the gold capping & nice sharp edges to the corners of the lugs etc. The back unscrews and screws down properly as it should and the observatory medallion is still nice and crisp with little noticeable wear.

The original silvered dial is in good condition with contrasting polished, luminous filled baton divisions and date window. The dial shows a little discolouration around the 12 o-clock marker and one tiny mark just above 9 o-clock, other than this it is a nice original dial. The polished gold dauphine hands still retain their original luminous filling, though this has long since lost it’s luminosity.

The glass is the original omega one with cyclops magnifying bubble over the date window and tiny omega symbol to the centre. There are some slight imperfections to the glass which do not detract from the beauty of the watch and we felt it better to leave in the original at this point rather than replace it. The crown has been replaced at some point with a later, genuine omega one which is in keeping with the style of the watch.

The watch is fitted with a very fine quality hirsch alligator-grain strap. We have priced this watch accordingly considering the slight imperfections to the dial and glass, however this is a really clean and tidy example of the late 60’s constellation range.
