VINTAGE 1967 IWC AUTOMATIC CALENDAR CALIBRE 8541, STAINLESS STEEL WATERPROOF

VINTAGE 1967 IWC AUTOMATIC CALENDAR CALIBRE 8541, STAINLESS-STEEL WATERPROOF WATCH.

THIS SUPERB GENTLEMEN’S WRIST-WATCH WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE GOLDEN ERA OF WATCH-MAKING. THE MID 1950’s TO THE END OF THE 1960’s SAW MOST OF THE MAJOR SWISS MANUFACTURERS CREATE THEIR HIGHEST AND MOST TECHNICALLY ADVANCED MOVEMENTS AND THE IWC THAT YOU SEE HERE HOUSES THE LEGENDARY CALIBRE 8541.

THE WATERPROOF STAINLESS STEEL CASE MEASURES 36mm ACROSS THE BEZEL, NOT INCLUDING THE CROWN AND 42mm TIP-TO-TIP. BEAUTIFULLY STYLED STAINLESS-STEEL WATERPROOF CASE, VERY SIMILAR TO THE IWC ‘YACHT-CLUB’ MODEL, THIS WATCH JUST OOZES QUALITY.

IWC’s WATERPROOF CASES ARE EASILLY RECOGNISABLE BY THE ’FISH’ SYMBOL TO THEIR CROWNS, AND THE ONE PICTURED HERE IS THE ORIGINAL.

THE ORIGINAL SILVERED DIAL IS CLOSE TO FAULTLESS, WITH SIMPLE APPLIED BATTON MARKERS, DOT DIVISIONS AND FRAMED CALENDAR WINDOW.

REMOVAL OF THE BACK REVEALS THE EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY IWC CALIBRE 8541 MOVEMENT, WHICH IS WORKING PERFECTLY AND KEEPING VERY GOOD TIME. THE WATCH IS IN FIRST-CLASS, TOTALLY ORIGINAL CONDITION THROUGHOUT, WITH JUST A LITTLE LIGHT SCRATCHING TO THE BACK FROM GENTLE USE OVER THE YEARS.

OUR EXAMPLE IS FITTED WITH A NEW QUALITY ALLIGATOR GRAIN STRAP. THE CURRENT LINE OF STEEL AUTOMATIC WATCHES FROM IWC START AT A LITTLE OVER FOUR THOUSAND POUNDS, BUT THEY DON’T SEEM TO HAVE THE SAME BEAUTY, STYLE OR QUALITY OF THE 1960’s RANGE.
