VINTAGE 1967 BREITLING CADETTE CHRONOGRAPH WATCH REFERENCE 1159 BLACK REVERSE PANDA DIAL
1960’s Breitlings are very much the flavour of the month at the moment and this example does not disappoint. This 1967 example is quite early in production, the ‘Cadette’ range first being introduced in late 1966.
The waterproof gold plated case measures 36mm across the bezel not including the crown and 45.5mm tip-to-tip. In exceptional condition with no dings or serious scratches, there is no wear to the plating and the shoulders still retain their nice sharp edges. The screw down waterproof back screws down and unscrews nicely as it should.
Stamped inside ‘Breitling watch LTD – Swiss’ and with serial number 1157186 dating it to 1967.
The black ’reverse-panda’ dial with prominent luminous baton divisions and twelve is in very, very nice condition. Though it has long lost it’s luminosity, the lume has faded to a very attractive tan colour and the lume in the hands matches this perfectly.
The original Breitling crown is still present as are the original pump pushers. This is the highly desirable ‘reverse-panda configuration, all black with silvered subsidiary dials and gold printing.
The Valjoux 7730 hand wound chronograph movement is in beautiful condition, with absolutely no signs of rust or water ingress and no sign of it being messed with by amateurs.
Fitted with a fine quality black lizard strap, this fine chronograph looks absolutely stunning on the wrist. A superb vintage 1960’s Breitling, you will struggle to find another find in this wonderful condition.
