VINTAGE 1966 OMEGA 9KT GOLD CALIBRE 552 AUTOMATIC WINDING IN BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL CONDITION
Vintage 1966 Omega 9kt gold calibre 552 automatic winding in beautiful original condition.
This very simple but stylish Omega is actually quite an interesting piece. Housed inside the solid 9kt gold 3 piece case we find the legendary Omega calibre 552 automatic winding movement, manufactured in 1965 by the serial number marked on the movement, though seemingly destined for a case manufactured 3 years earlier by the 1963 Birmingham hallmark on the inside of the case back.
Very unusual that Omega kept these cases after manufacture for 3 years before assembling them ready for sale. Measuring 34mm across the bezel, not including the crown and 39mm tip-to-tip. The watch is in practically ‘as new’ condition throughout, with no dings or scratches.
The simple starburst silvered dial is in exceptional condition and signed simply ‘Omega – automatic’ with ‘Swiss Made’ below 6.
The original winding crown is still present with the Omega symbol. A beautiful watch and well priced for a solid gold omega automatic.
