VINTAGE 1964 FAVRE LEUBA SEA-BIRD WATERPROOF ALARM WATCH STAINLESS-STEEL BOMBE CASE

Vintage 1964 Favre Leuba ’sea-bird’ waterproof alarm watch stainless-steel ’bombe’ case.

This very cool gentlemen’s wristwatch was manufactured in 1964 by the Swiss manufacturer Favre Leuba and wears the name ‘sea-bird’. The watch was unusually (for an alarm watch) fully water-proof when new & has an alarm function, very similar to the Jaeger-Lecoultre Memovox.

The example that we have here is cased in stainless-steel and has the classic Rolex ’Bombe’ style strap lugs and twin crowns. Measuring 35mm tip-to-tip and 43mm across not including the crowns. The case is in very good original condition condition, with no dings or serious scratches and has never been polished.

The beautiful star-burst silvered dial is in excellent shape, with contrasting polished silver baton divisions and Favre Leuba logo. The smaller red hand being the used to set the alarm time. The top crown winds and sets the alarm time, also being used to activate or cancel the alarm. The lower crown winds and setting the actual time.

The hf calibre 1475 movement by Adolf Schild is of very high quality, being frosted gilt and is in pristine absolutely ‘as-new’ condition & still striking the alarm brightly as it should.

We have fitted a new, quality croco-grain strap to this one. this watch is very handsome and an absolute pleasure to wear, looking very good on the wrist. Quite a rare piece and in very, very nice original condition.
