VINTAGE 1964 9CT GOLD OMEGA 9KT GOLD 34mm SCALLOPED LUGS WITH ORIGINAL BOX & STRAP BUCKLE

This wonderful gentlemen’s Omega is in truly ‘time-warp‘ condition. A completely original Omega such as this one does not come along to often and the example that you see here is a beauty.

The model 121.5400 was introduced in 1962 so this one is around two years into production. The 9kt solid gold case is very substantial, measuring 34mm across the bezel, not including the crown and 42mm tip-to-tip. The case is beautiful, with long down-turned scalloped lugs and free from dings or scratches of any kind.

Manufactured in England by Omega’s case-maker Dennison, these cases were particularly well made. The case back fits very snugly and snaps back closed very firmly, also in excellent original condition with just a little very light rubbing from gentle use over the years. Stamped inside the back with the Omega makers mark, model number and Birmingham 9ct gold hallmark. There is also a tiny 9ct gold hallmark to the back of one of the lugs.

Housing the calibre 269 manual winding movement, the example that we have here is in ‘as-new’ condition. I have rarely seen a movement as clean as this one, which is testament to the wonderful case design which has protected it perfectly over the years. I would say that the movement is in the same condition as when it left the factory in 1964.

The silvered dial is absolutely beautiful, with just a little patina of age beginning to show. Contrasting gold mixed Arabic figures and baton markers, subsidiary seconds circle and signed simply ‘Omega’ with ‘swiss made’ below six.

The watch retains the original Omega signed winding crown which is also in perfect condition with no noticeable wear. The glass is also the original.

The strap retains the original omega buckle, but we have replaced the worn leather part with a new, quality alligator grain one.

The watch is also complete with it’s original Omega presentation box.

Watches as well preserved as this example do not come up for sale very often, a truly beautiful vintage omega.
