Vintage 1950’s ’Pronto’ chronograph watch with spider lugs & Venus 188 movement in super condition.
This fabulous vintage chronograph was manufactured in the mid 1950’s and is in very, very nice original condition. This is a large watch, measuring 37.5mm across the bezel (not including the crown) and 45.5mm tip to tip. Highly elaborate gold plated case with down turned ’spider’ strap lugs.
The beautiful original two-tone silvered dial with contrasting polished gold Arabic figures and very unusual triangular luminous markers. 2 colour printed with outer tachometer scale in red. The dial is signed ‘Pronto – shock resist’ Along with ‘swiss’ under the six.
The exceptional quality Venus 188 movement is in ’as-new’ condition, seemingly having had very little use and clearly never having been got at by amateurs. The chronograph starts smartly and the centre hand snaps back exactly to 60 as it should.
The watch is in very nice original condition, with a little loss to the plating and some fine scratching to the back from mild use over the years. We have fitted this with a new, quality alligator-grain strap.
