VINTAGE 1947 BREITLING PREMIER CHRONOGRAPH WATCH WITH SPIDER LUGS REFERENCE 797 VENUS CALIBRE 175

Vintage 1947 Breitling premier chronograph watch with ’spider’ lugs reference 797, Venus calibre 175 .

This exceptional gentlemen’s Breitling premier chronograph is a very special wristwatch. The serial number 705980 on the outside of the back indicates that it was manufactured in 1947, which was a great period for Breitling who produced some of the brands most beautiful designs.

The all stainless-steel case is very, very stylish, with flared and down-turned ’spider’ strap lugs and stepped bezel. The case is in fabulous condition, measuring 36.mm across the bezel, not including the crown and 45mm tip-to-tip. Retaining the original polished finish with brushed sides of the lugs.

The original silvered dial has acquired a beautiful patina over the years, very popular among collectors at the moment. With simple black printed numerals and outer telemetre scale. Swiss-Made is printed discretely below the six. The blued steel stick hands are the originals.

The winding crown and pushers are original to the watch and in excellent condition.

The Venus 175 movement is in beautiful condition, having clearly seen very little use and with no signs of being tampered with by amateurs. The chronograph starts, stops and returns to zero promptly as it should.

The snap on case back snaps closed very firmly and is stamped inside ‘stainless-steel’.

The watch is very slim for a chronograph and fits close to the wrist, making it a joy to wear. A fine, beautiful and highly collectable Breitling from the golden age of watchmaking.
