VINTAGE 1930’S J W BENSON ART DECO TANK WATCH CYMA 335 72 HOUR POWER RESERVE MOVEMENT

This fabulous gentlemen’s art-deco inspired watch was retailed by the prestigious jeweller and watch-maker J.W. Benson in 1930’s and is of very nice quality.

Housing the very rare Cyma / Tavannes calibre 335 movement with 72 hour power reserve, the only one of it’s kind and very unusual to find which should run for three days before needing re-winding.

The watch is in 100% un-touched original condition, we have only fitted a new strap that is all. The chromed case is in the classic ‘tank’ style, with stepped sides and shoulders.

The back is curved to the shape of the wrist and individually serial numbered inside.

Measuring 22mm across not including the crown and 41mm tip-to-tip.

The case is in very nice condition, with no dings or serious scratches and nice sharp edges still to the shoulders. There does not appear to be any wear to the chrome plating.

The original silvered dial is very, very nice indeed. Simply signed J.W. Benson – London’ with subsidiary seconds and very unusual elaborate blued steel hands.

The movement is exceptional, of highly unusual design with a very large barrel and twin plates separated by pillars. The finish of the movement is beautiful, with gold jewel settings and Geneva stripes.

The original winding crown is still present and in perfect condition with no wear. The watch works nicely, winding and setting as it should.

Quite a rare watch, of very good quality and one which would have cost a pretty penny when new. We have fitted a new, quality alligator-grain strap to the watch.
