VINTAGE 1930 VERY RARE GENTLEMEN’s LUSINA ART DECO WATCH WITH CALENDAR DATE WINDOW

This very scarce gentlemen’s wristwatch was manufactured in 1930 and is a rare time-piece. Quintessentially art-deco, the wonderfully elaborate chrome ‘tank’ case has stepped sides and a hinged case-back which is slightly curved to the wrist.

This is one of the very first watches to feature a calendar function, it is quite possibly ’the’ first. There are very few of these which have survived and we have never seen this particular model or movement type previously, it is very scarce.

A large watch, measuring 26mm across the bezel not including the crown and 38.5mm tip-to-tip.

The silvered dial with heavy radium luminous figures, cathedral hands and subsidiary seconds, signed by the manufacturer ‘Lusina‘ with swiss-made below 6. With a very colourful red calendar window and date-disc.

The very good quality 15 jewel movement is in great condition and looks to be running well, winding and setting as it should. This is a rare watch, which is approaching a century in age and is the fore-runner to every calendar watch since.

This watch has been fitted with a new, quality alligator-grain strap.
