1968 TUDOR PRINCE OYSTER-DATE AUTOMATIC ROULETTE CALENDAR

1968 Tudor Prince Oyster-Date automatic roulette calendar.

The Tudor watches, which have always been the budget range by Rolex, have seen an immense surge of popularity over the last ten years or so and this lovely 1960’s model is a prime example.

Manufactured in 1968 by the serial number between the lugs 639891, this model 7996/0 Prince Oyster-Date has everything that you would want in a vintage Tudor.

Measuring 34mm across the bezel, not including the crown and 41mm tip-to-tip. The silvered dial is original and in very, very good condition. Signed ‘Tudor Prince Oyster-Date’ with very unusual small rose logo applied to the 12 o’clock marker. ‘rotor self-winding’ below and ’t-swiss-t’ below six. The polished baton numerals and matching luminous filled hands (which no longer glow unfortunately) compliment the dial perfectly. The calendar disc is the desirable ’roulette’ type with alternating red and black figures.

The movement is in very, very nice condition indeed. ETA calibre 2462 automatic with calendar, beautifully finished and working perfectly. The rotor swings nicely, hands set correctly and the date clicks over swiftly at 12 as it should. The original crown screws down tightly and unscrews as it should. The back locates nicely on it’s thread also. This is a wonderful 1960’s Tudor in fine condition and looks wonderful on the wrist. Fitted with a new quality alligator-grain leather strap.
