1955 GIRARD PERREGAUX CALATRAVA 9KT GOLD EDINBURGH HALLMARKED IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION
Vintage 1955 Girard Perregaux ’Calatrava’ 9kt gold Edinburgh hallmarked in exceptional condition.
This wonderful quality and very stylish watch was manufactured in 1955 by the Swiss maker ’Girard Perregaux’ and was clearly inspired by the Patek Philippe ‘Calatrava’ watches of the same era.
Housed inside the solid 9kt gold 2 piece case we find the exceptional quality hand winding calibre 18 movement. Measuring 32mm across the bezel, not including the crown and 41mm tip-to-tip. Very unusually hallmarked in Edinburgh in 1955, which we have rarely seen before.
The watch is in practically ‘as new’ condition throughout, with no dings or scratches what-so-ever and just some very fine hazing to the glass, which is the original.
The simple silvered dial with subsidiary seconds is in very nice condition and signed simply ‘Girard Perregaux – incabloc’ the applied gold baton divisions and hands complimenting the dial perfectly.
The original winding crown is still present and we have fitted a new, quality alligator grain strap. A beautiful watch and of very high quality from this highly prestigious manufacturer.
