1950’s JUVENIA STAINLESS-STEEL WATERPROOF ALARM WRISTWATCH

1950’s Juvenia stainless-steel waterproof alarm wristwatch.

This pretty gentlemen’s wrist-watch is actually quite special.

Manufactured during the mid to late 1950’s by the highly regarded maker ‘Juvenia’ in  la Chaux-de-fonds, Switzerland.

The watch has an alarm function, very similar the the Jaeger-Lecoultre ‘Memovox’, though Juvenia managed to encase their version in a water-proof case whilst still managing to make it very slim and fit close to the wrist like a dress watch, ingenious .

The all stainless-steel case is in fine un-polished condition, with nice sharp edges to the lugs and bezel. The back, with separate screw down ring marked ‘water-proof’ and with individual serial number has just a few fine scratches from gentle use over the years.

Winding and setting are via the crown at 4 o’clock with the alarm wound and set with the crown above. By the way, both crown have the ’j’ logo for Juvenia, a nice touch of quality.

The dial, simply signed ’Juvenia’ has just the right amount of patina to the silvering, giving it the true vintage look. Working perfectly and with good strong alarm still, which is actually louder than the Jaeger versions.

This is quite a rare beast and consequently rather collectable.
