1930’s 18KT GOLD ‘DUO-DIAL’ DOCTORS WATCH LARGE ‘JUMBO’ CASE.

Description

1930’s 18KT GOLD ‘DUO-DIAL’ DOCTORS WATCH LARGE ‘JUMBO’ CASE.

1930’s 18kt Gold ‘duo-dial’ Doctors Watch large ‘jumbo’ case.

This wonderful gentlemen’s wristwatch was manufactured sometime during the 1930’s and wears the name ‘duo-dial’. The doctors watch was first designed by Rolex, the ‘Prince’ having two very distinctly separated dials. The large lower subsidiary seconds dial particularly well suited to those in the medical profession, hence these being known as ‘doctors’ watches.

The example that we have here is cased in 18kt Gold and is of an unusually large size. Measuring 41mm tip-to-tip and 21.5mm across, not including the crown. The case is in first-class condition, with no dings or scratches of any kind. The case back is curved to the wrist and opens on a hinge, which is in perfect condition, opening and snapping closed firmly as it should. Fully hallmarked 18kt gold inside with Swiss hallmarks. There are also two very clear 18kt hallmarks on one strap bar and the side of the case.

The original two-tone silvered dial is in very good shape, the top dial in the style of Cartier with Roman numerals and inner 60 minute track. Signed simply ‘Duo-Dial’ with ‘Swiss Made’ at the bottom and with just a little pitting and wear around the periphery.

The movement is unsigned, but of very high quality, being frosted gilt and is in pristine absolutely ‘as-new’ condition. Working perfectly, winds and sets as it should and keeps very good time.

This watch is beautiful and an absolute pleasure to wear, looking wonderful on the wrist. very, very rare to find one of these in this condition.
